XOXO

For those of us who are Gossip Girl fans, 3 weeks ago we were super excited when season 4 started. With last season Nate and Serena breaking up and everyone's favorite couple Chuck and Blair calling it quits we didn't know what to expect this season premiere. And how shocked were we when Chuck was with this blonde? Has Chuck really forgotten about Blair? Will they never be together again? I don't about you but I am very sad about this because he seems to really be invested with this new girl. And how can we forget Serena? The drama always seems to revolve around her. In a split second she lost both Dan and Nate. What a twist that was. My question is who is the new girl around town wanting to destroy the clique? And why does she want to? She almost got to Serena and Blair, too bad for her they seem to have grown up. I am personally glad this new girl couldn't come between the besties, they have been through plenty already. But  she came between Nate and Serena, which isn't great for us Serena and Nate fans. After she got Nate right where she wanted him, she went to go see some guy in jail. More questions arise, like who is that guy? And what is his problem with the clique? This couple have brought about plenty questions and we want answers. But if we know Gossip Girl we probably won't get them any time soon. And BTW where is Jenny?

Winter must haves.

Winter is one of those seasons where you either love it or hate it. For those of us that have curls or waves we might love it because our hair will stay straight longer and look nicer. In the summer there is too much humidity to blow dry your hair. With the winter should come caution. Winter brings cold weather, dry skin and chapped lips. What must you carry in your bag or stock up with in your bathroom? I got the answers right here for you.
  1. Chap Stick/Lip  Balm, they both actually help with chapped and dry lips. One just creates a nicer finish. If you want both I say go for it.
  2. Skin Moisturizer, yes ladies you have to moisturize more than just your face for the winter.
  3. Sunscreen Protection, just because it isn't summer doesn't mean the sun goes away. Sunscreen is important no mater the time of year.
  4. Body Scrub, with exfoliate is great for the winter so that it can smooth out dry skin.
  5. Body Butter, this is much thicker than lotion and will help you keep your skin smooth all day long.
  6. Petroleum Jelly, this is good for your knees and elbows.
  7. Face Cream, our poor face is the only thing left uncovered to deal with the winter weathers. Restore your smooth face skin with a good night moisturizer.
Be sure to use products that are good for your skin type. Be great and have a great winter.

What effect does exposure to sunlight have on my hair?

Residing in the beautiful Sunshine State has many advantages but sun exposure is something that we just cannot get away from. Here are some of the things to be aware of when hanging out at the beach with the girls.

Great free-flowing hair and sun are two wonderful elements of summer, especially when sunlight kisses hair into golden strands. But did you know that combining hair and sun doesn’t always have a positive effect? UV exposure can break down hair proteins, causing hair to look dull and weaken hair’s tensile and physical properties. This damage is more intense on the outer regions of the hair shaft, so people with thick hair have more natural resilience against UV damage than those with fine hair, who can experience more damaged hair. Thus, the connection between your hair and sun can be bigger than expected, and it can impact the appearance of your hair.

The pigments in dark hair can filter some of this damage better than light hair pigments, thus providing a bit more protection against the breakdown of proteins that can cause damaged hair. This filtering action, however, is what causes hair to lighten with increased sun exposure.

Here are some great options to protect your locks from the damaging effects of the sun.
Sungrubbies.com has a great selection of sun hats to protect your hair and face when sun bathing, or direct sun exposure.
Another good idea to protect your locks is saturate the hair with conditioner specially the most fragile part (the ends). Doing this will create a barrier between the damaging UV rays and your hair.

How To Apply False Lashes succesfully. A must for the holidays!

Applying False Eye Lashes

* Apply makeup as you normally do, however, make sure your eyeliner is thicker. This will enable you to conceal your false eyelash line, framing and merging them well with your eyes.
* Be very careful while taking them out of the box so that do not tear or damage. You can even trim them according to your eye size, before using.
* Now, curl your eye lashes so that the false ones adjust properly on yours.
* For applying false eyelashes, eyelash adhesive is required which usually comes along with the lashes.
* Spread a thin layer of eyelash adhesive onto the eyelash strip, as too much of the glue might become messy.
* Wait for a second, till the glue becomes a little thick.
* Now, gently put the false eyelashes on your natural ones. Begin with the outer corner of your eye, placing them as close as possible to your natural eyelash line.
* Readjust the eyelashes if you don’t find the position right as the glue will be soft in the beginning.
* Press them gently, making them firm on the outer corners of the strip to ensure they stick on.
* Make sure you do not have a white line appearing, as this indicates that there is gap between the two eyelashes.
* To fix the problem, you can either try to readjust it there itself or you can remove them and place again.
* After your eyelash adhesive is completely dry, apply a few coats of mascara. For finishing touches, curl them with an eyelash curler.

Beauty Is Only Skin Deep

We all love to say that beauty is only skin deep. But even if that were the case, we should still cleanse and care for our face properly. It might seem like it is such a hassle to properly cleanse your face but it really isn't. All it takes is 4 very easy steps.
  1. Cleanse, no need to break the bank with a fancy cleanser. Keep is simple and find the best cleanser for your skin type. You shouldn't cleanse too often, once a night should do with Luke warm water.Remember to take off all make up properly with the right make up remover.
  2. Exfoliate, scrubs work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells that tend to dull your complex. Exfoliating your skin once a week will keep your skin glowing all year round. Use a gentle scrub with tiny grains. Big grains in cheap scrubs can tear skin and cause more harm than good.
  3. Moisturize, no matter your skin type you should moisturize. The skin can dry out very easily and moisturizers seal moisture into skin. Your skin will tell you how to moisturize it, pay attention to it. Be careful not to over moisturize, this can clog pores.
  4. Apply Sunscreen, the number one cause of wrinkles is sun damage. Applying sunscreen is the most important part of your skin care regime. Do not use a moisturizer with sunscreen as your night cream. The ingredients in it are not meant to be used all day.
I know some of you are wondering if you should use toner or not. My research has shown me that toner is not completely necessary, a toner is used to remove all remaining oil, make up, and dirt but if you were to use a good enough cleanser this shouldn't be a problem. But if you feel you should use toner, then use it. It is up to you, you might like how the toner makes your skin feel. Starting a skin care regime can be hard but it is a routine every woman should have.

Tapeworm Diet

We have all tried our hardest to shed unwanted pounds, and they have come up with some crazy diets. But the worst thing I have heard of is of a tapeworm diet. At first I thought it was crazy, no one would want a worm in them. But people are willing to pay big bucks in order to get a tapeworm in their body. In case you don't know what a tapeworm is let me tell you. A tapeworm is a type of parasite that grows in animals and lay eggs. When not found in the animal, it can be found in the raw meat if not cleaned and/or cooked properly. What this tapeworm does is that it eats the food that you are eating. It does this because it needs to grow, it can grow up to 30 feet in humans. You can eat all you want with the worm inside you but imagine a worm of 30 feet in your body for the purpose of loosing weight. It is illegal in US and it is not approved by the FDA, but that does not stop people from getting this tapeworm. Being that it is not approved by the FDA and that it is a type of parasite would scare me off. Now when you eat right and exercise regularly you can keep the weight off and be healthy. With a tapeworm, once the tapeworm is removed you will the gain the weight again if you keep eating the way you were when you had the tapeworm in you. In some cases the tapeworm has had to be removed in a hospital or by a doctor. Tyra Banks had an entire episode on her talk show about crazy diets and the tapeworm diet. After hearing and reading about all these crazy diets, my question is, is it more important to loose weight than it is to be healthy?

I was doing a little research and found these awesome costumes and wanted to share with you guys! Also posted some links of unique costume stores that you may place your order online. Enjoy!

Football Season is here!

Football Season is here!!! Prepare to let the boys be boys, it's their prom night every Sunday. Don’t worry there is more to love about football than the typical tailgate parties and beer drinking. Along with all the binging and cheering done watching Football, there is no better compliment than food. Food has always been a staple of every football weekend, why not continue the tradition and impress the guest? So fire up the grill and prepare these mouth watering recipes. The only problem you might encounter is overshadowing the game itself.

Quick Chili

Slice tops from 16 (1-oz.) hearty round dinner rolls, and then let guests hollow out centers and spoon chili into them.
Total: 27 minutes
Yield: Makes 8 servings

Ingredients
• 2 pounds lean ground beef

• 1 teaspoon ground cumin
• 2 (16-oz.) cans diced tomatoes with green pepper and onion
• 2 (16-oz.) cans small red beans
• 2 (8-oz.) cans tomato sauce
• Toppings: shredded Cheddar cheese, sliced green onions, diced tomatoes

Preparation
1. Brown beef in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring often, 6 to 8 minutes or until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain well. Return beef to Dutch oven; sprinkle with chili powder, Creole seasoning, and cumin, and sauté 1 minute.
2. Stir in diced tomatoes and next 2 ingredients, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes. Serve with toppings.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Yield: 3 1/2 dozen (serving size: 1 meatball)

• 1/4 cup egg substitute
• 1/2 cup Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
• 3/4 cup ketchup
• 1/3 cup white vinegar
• 1/4 cup low-sodium Worcestershire sauce
• 3 tablespoons sugar
• 2 teaspoons dry mustard

Preparation
Combine first 5 ingredients; shape mixture into 1-inch balls.
Brown meatballs, in batches, in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Remove meatballs from skillet, and wipe skillet clean. Stir together ketchup and next 4 ingredients in skillet; bring to a boil.
Add meatballs, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes or until meatballs are no longer pink.

GUACAMOLE

Ingredients
• 5 ripe avocados
• 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
• 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
• 1/2 medium jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped
• 1 garlic clove, pressed
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• Tortilla chips

Preparation
1. Cut avocados in half. Scoop pulp into a bowl, and mash with a potato masher or fork until slightly chunky. Stir in chopped red onion and next 4 ingredients. Cover with plastic wrap, allowing wrap to touch mixture, and let stand at room temperature 30 minutes. Serve guacamole with tortilla chips.
Cilantro Guacamole: Mash avocado, and stir in ingredients as directed. Stir in 3 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro and an additional 1 Tbsp. lime juice. Cover mixture, and let stand at room temperature 30 minutes.

Carribean Chicken Wings

• 1 habanero, seeded and chopped
• 1/4 cup soy sauce

• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
• 1/4 cup lime juice
• 1/4 cup orange juice
• 7 pounds chicken wings

Directions
In a food processor, blend together all the ingredients but the chicken until smooth. Reserve 1 cup of marinade. Place chicken wings into a large resealable plastic bag and pour remaining marinade over them. Seal and marinate in the refrigerator 4 to 6 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 sheet trays with parchment. Remove chicken from bag and place on the baking sheets. Bake 20 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan bring reserved marinade to a boil. Reduce by 1/3 until it thickens slightly, about 10 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove chicken from oven. Brush chicken with the glaze. What would you do??

To Bite or Not to Bite?

In 1897 the novel Dracula was published. Little did we know that 113 years later vampires would be such a phenomenon. With novels like Vampire Diaries, The Twilight Saga, and The Sookie Stackhouse novels vampires are the new rage. What is funny about all these new age vampires is that they have been taken away their cruelty and given kindness in order for society to love them. When Dracula first came into play he was a vicious, malicious vampire who would only feed on human blood. Nothing like the Edward we all know and love, that is loving, kind, sensitive and feeds off animals. Wow, that is a pretty big difference. But we love us the human/vampire relationships. There is something about the exoticness that makes us love them and want a relationship like that. They have made vampires so human, loving and romantic that who can resist them. I wonder if this is what Bram Stoker had in mind when he created Dracula. Would he be upset that they have softened up his hardcore character? Or would he be glad that he created an image that will never die? How long will this newly obsession with vampires last? Will it be until the last Twilight movie comes out? Or the last season of True Blood? Some of us have forgotten classics like Vampire in Brooklyn, or Buffy The Vampire Slayer, we can even throw Underworld in mix. Vampires never die out from the public, they take a little breather, and when we least expect it, they show up again. We love vampires so thank you Mr.  Bram Stoker and Dracula for introducing us to the wonderful world of the undead. I am sorry Bella and Edward, Elena and Stefan, and Sookie and Bill but I have to thank the originals Buffy and Angel for introducing us to the forbidden, magical, romantic, loving, exotic, everlasting and immortal love of human/vampire relationships.

To Facebook or not to Facebook?

We all love Facebook and what is a day without updating our status. How work is going? Do we love our clients, patients, boss etc? But how much is too much on Facebook? My recent research shows that there have been employees fired due to what they posted on FB.  It might seem completely crazy, it did to me, to know that what you posted can get you fired. So I did a little more research, and I am glad I did. Various reasons have gotten these employees fired but the root seems to be postings on FB. The one that caught my eyes the most was a teacher that went on vacation and took pictures of herself having a few drinks. When the word or pictures got back to the principal she was fired for being inappropriate. To read her full story please go to http://www.nowpublic.com/strange/ashley-payne-former-teacher-fired-facebook-pictures-2515440.html. As crazy as it seems to me, isn't it crazier to mix business and personal? Which one of your co-workers is really friend? Is your boss your friend? There is a very thin margin between work friends and friends out side of work. The thing I find mind blowing, is that I would consider it very unfair to get fired form your status, but it is apparently very legal to fire you because of your status. The advice I found is very simple, privacy and exclusivity. Think before you post, act as if the entire world can read your status and be careful. When it comes to social networking sites like FB and Twitter, use extra caution.

Inspiring Story! Check out this 16yr old's pipes! This girl has Talent

I came accross this video on youtube and truly felt inspired. Cher Lloyd is a sixteen year old from the UK that has tremedous talent and the judges were amazed by her performance. Seeing her family's pride really made me shed tears. I found the story really compelling; and hope it can bring the message that everything and anything can be achieved if you want it bad enough.

Looking Fab at 40

A couple of nights ago Demi Moore posted a picture on her twitter account flaunting her ageless beauty to all her followers. Well as they say if you got it flaunt it, however it got me thinking what chance does any normal working gal have to look like her. Trying to stay ahead of all the beauty regimens is time consuming and can sometime leave a dent in your wallet. So I began my quest to get the scoop on preparing my body for the battles ahead. As I began my quest I encounter numerous of options from diamond encrusted facials to leeches to detoxify your blood. Not quite what I was looking for. How else can I accomplish looking fab at 40 like the A-lister the natural way. According to Demi Moore she Moisturizes religiously she says I moisturize, moisturize, moisturize," says Moore. "No matter how late it is, when I get home, I take the time to clean and moisturize my face. I'm a big believer in that if you focus on good skin care, you really won't need a lot of makeup." 9/02/10

Although it seems like its just a date, it is so much more than that. Beverly Hills 90210 which aired from October 4, 1990 to May 17,2000 on Fox, was an American drama series. This show followed the lives of a group of teenage friends as they go through high school, the up and downs in their friendships, and later college and "the real world". Even though it did go through a lot of cast changes it was one of Fox's number one shows. As we have a flash back on this special day it is only wise we touch the fashion in the early 90's. The teen idol guys had side burns, we look now and say "What were they thinking?" but back then they were the teen idols. As for the girls, they looked fabolous, for the 90's. As we enter a new time a new era, are the syles the girls used really that out of date? We keep bringing things back from the 80's and 90's. The cast adn the show itself were nominated for some awards and won quite a few too. After the show ended in 2000, we thought we saw the last of the wonderful zip code 90210, little did we know that 8 years later a spin off with the same zip code and theme song would premiere. With a few changes in casting and fashion I think 90210 is here to stay, in our hearts and on our tv sets.

Napping, is it more than just a past time?

Remember the days when we used to take daily naps? What happened to those days?  As we grow older they tell us we shouldn't nap, mainly because napping is for children. So imagine my amazement when I run into research saying that napping is more than just a past time. Studies at Harvard Medical School show that a 45 minute nap improves learning and memory. To my surprise taking a nap, as well as having a good nights sleep, may actually help us keep things in our long term memory. And here I thought I was forgetful, it's really just the need of a nap. It is also suggested by researchers that naps are exceedingly effective in clearing our minds so we can fill them up again. This was all so shocking to me, which led me to think my overall question to all this research, when we fell asleep in class did we learn more than when we were actually awake and "daydreaming"?
