In Case You Missed It: Oscar Fashion Trends

Metallic sequins

Award show performer Gwyneth Paltrow stunned in a glistening Calvin Klein Collection column gown while Hilary Swank shimmered in a strapless silver ombre Gucci design. Indian actress Aishwarya Rai went glam with her bronze Giorgio Armani Prive evening gown and Penelope Cruz showed off her post-baby figure in a red L'Wren Scott design.

Red

The red carpet was a serious style inspiration for some stars. Celebs including Jennifer Hudson, in Versace, best actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence, in Calvin Klein, Sandra Bullock, in Vera Wang, and show host Anne Hathaway, in Valentino, all chose the vibrant hue for their Oscar arrival.

Retro waves

Both Mila Kunis and Amy Adams channeled old Hollywood glamour with their hair styles.

Bold shoulders

Celine Dion, in Giorgio Armani Prive, Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture, Melissa Leo, in Marc Bouwer, and Helen Mirren in Vivienne Westwood all proved that shoulder pads still make an eye-catching style statement.

Purple

Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman also brought a pop of color to the red carpet with their varying hues of purple. Kunis chose a romantic lilac Elie Saab Haute Couture design while Johansson flaunted her curves in a lacy backless Dolce & Gabbana gown. And best actress winner Portman went with a classic silhouette in deep violet, designed by Rodarte.

Sparkling nudes

Michelle Williams went for a demure look with her shimmery Chanel column gown while fellow best actress nominee Hailee Steinfeld kept it sweet with her Marchesa tea-length dress, which she paired with a skinny headband and a high bun. Presenter Halle Berry was a knockout in her strapless tulle Marchesa frock and Mandy Moore went with a sheer bodice Monique Lhuillier design.
