Finger Foods

Good morning, as promised I am here again today to give you another sweet, and healthy Halloween snack. If your planning on a par these will be great finger foods.

Ingredients
  • Mozzarella string cheese
  • Green bell pepper
  • Cream cheese
Instructions
  1. Wearing plastic gloves or sandwich bags over your hands to keep the cheese as smudge-free as possible, use a paring knife (parents only) to cut each string in half and then carve a shallow area for a fingernail just below the rounded end of each half.
  2. Mark the joint right below the nail as well as the knuckle joint by carving out tiny horizontal wedges of cheese, as pictured.
  3. For the fingernails, slice a green bell pepper into 3/8-inch-wide strips. Set the strips skin side down on your work surface and trim the pulp so that it's about half as thick. Then cut the strips into ragged-topped nail shapes and stick them in place at the ends of the fingers with dabs of cream cheese.
These yummy treats will be a delight for both parents and their kids. So be ready for these to be a hit.

Get Rid of Dark Circles and Puffy Eyes

Between jobs, late nights and heavy partying, our lifestyles can certainly take a major toll on our bodies, not to mention our under-eye areas.

So how do you recover from looking like a punched panda bear? Try these tips for brightening your baby blues or bodacious browns:

Solutions for Under-Eye Circles and Bags

Get enough sleep. Sound sleeping is an inexpensive, easy way to help minimize dark under-eye circles, no matter what the cause. Sleep not only helps keep eyes bright. It also aids your body in repairing cell damage to your skin.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Though they may perk you up in the short term, caffeine and alcohol don't do the same for your skin. They can cause mild dehydration, making dark circles more obvious.
Go a shade lighter in your concealer. A concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone can help disguise under-eye circles. A concealer with an SPF of 15 or higher provides double benefits. If your skin tends to be oily or acne-prone, use an oil-free concealer.

More extreme methods include:
Consider skin lighteners or bleaching agents. If the dark circles under your eyes are due to too much melanin, creams containing lightening agents such as retinol, hydroquinone, kojic acid, green tea, vitamin C, or soy can be helpful, according to California dermatologist Sonia Badreshia-Bansal, MD. To help skin-lightening products work their best, avoid the sun and use sunscreen daily. Badreshia-Bansal suggests a sunscreen with zinc and a sun-protection factor (SPF) of 30.
Check out injectable fillers. A dermatologist may administer these if your dark eye circles are due broken blood vessels, says Badreshia-Bansal. Fillers can also help if fat loss is the cause of bags under the eyes.
Look into lasertreatments and vitamin K. Laser treatmentsmay reduce the look of dark circles due to broken blood vessels. Skin care products containing vitamin K can also help.
Solutions to Prevent Eye Puffiness

Sleep. It's as important to preventing puffy eyes as it is to diminishing dark circles. Start by getting at least eight hours of good sleep a night.
Drink. Staying well-hydrated can help prevent puffy eyes, says Chicago dermatologist Carolyn Jacob, MD. Drinking plenty of healthy liquids, especially water, helps keep overall skin tone firm and full looking.
Cut back on salt. Retaining body fluid can cause puffy, doughy looking skin. Reducing salt intake helps reduce the tendency to retain excess water. An easy way to cut back on salt? Reduce the processed foods in your diet.
Use cool compresses. Florida dermatologist Andrea Cambio, MD, advocates the de-puffing power of chilled, moist green tea bags. Elizabeth L. Tanzi, MD, a Washington, DC dermatologist, suggests gently placing cool cucumber slices or a bag of frozen peas or carrots on the eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. A gel eye-mask will also do the trick.
Learn to accept the look of your eyes. Some people are just more prone to puffy eyes or dark eye circles, according Brandt. As we grow older, skin naturally weakens and becomes less resilient, so puffy eyes or dark circles naturally become more noticeable.

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and here at Project0811 we care. The first thing I want to tell you is that, yes it is very important to give yourself a self breast exam. It is good to give yourself an exam once a month about 10 days after your period leaves. Learn how to give yourself and exam here http://www.ehow.com/how_4539924_give-yourself-breast-exam.html it is important to be aware. If you know someone, or you are someone who is a breast cancer survivor, we would love to hear your story. We know a breast cancer survivor and although the struggle was hard and the roads were tough she got through it. She had very small breast and she was under the illusion that because her breast were so small the she could not get breast cancer. One day as she waking up she decides she should do a self breast exam. She felt a lump and went to the doctor, where they ran test and it was definite that she had breast cancer. She was very sad and she didn't expect those results. But as the brave person she faced her new challenge and kept moving forward.  I can not imagine the actual pain she went through but I can read the pain in her face. Imagine if she would have kept going through life not knowing she had a lump. It was caught early enough to be taken care of. yes it is imperative that you regularly check your breast for bumps or abnormalities. It is scary to think about what if I have cancer? But wouldn't it be better to give yourself a check and be able to catch it early enough where they can maybe operate and get rid of it? This week is Project0811's give back week. And any purchase that is made this week, 20% it will go to Breast Cancer. So ladies, love your breast and think pink this month.

8 Tips to Organize your Closet for the Fall

Fall and Spring are the best times of year to clean out and organize your closet, as you transition to your warmer or cooler clothes. While it may seem like a daunting task, when it’s done you will feel exhilarated.  You will also find yourself wearing more of your clothes because you can actually find them.
Your first step should be going through everything in your closet and separating the items into piles/boxes/bags of whatever you choose to donate or trash. A good rule of thumb is, if you have not worn an item in a year, then get rid of it. If you went through all four seasons and it didn’t leave the house, then it’s unlikely you will wear it in the future. Exceptions to this could be a winter coat if you live in FL. If necessary, create an unsure pile, but give it a deadline. Try on anything you think might not fit; and toss it if it doesn’t. If you have multiple items that are very similar, try them on too, and compare to see which one fits you the best and is in the best condition.
Once the space is cleared out, assess what you have and make a plan for organizing the space. Figure out how you can maximize your space by doing things like grouping longer hanging clothes on one end and shorter hanging clothes on the other end of the rod. This increases the floor space below the short garments and you can then place a small dress or shoe rack to maximize that floor space. Minimize the amount of “white space” you have by figuring out how you can utilize that space properly. If this is not your forte, it may be wise to hire a professional closet company to design and install a new system.
Here are some tips for the reorganization:
1.     Matching Hangers - Use matching hangers. They not only look better, but also take up less space. Huggable or slimline hangers are preferable, as they are thin; and even slippery items stay neatly in place.

2.     Acquire Appropriate Storage Containers - You don’t always have to get rid of everything to de-clutter. By acquiring the appropriate storage containers, you can become more organized and save space. Try items like scarf and belt hangers, multi-item pant or skirt hangers, fabric boxes, or plastic storage containers. Reisenthal makes beautiful collapsible boxes that are great for storing things in your closet; and they can easily be left on display. Clear containers make it easy to see what’s inside. Keep everything as visible as possible; since out of sight means out of mind.

3.     Sort By Type - Hang clothes by item type and then by color. For example, group together all tanks tops, short-sleeve shirts, long-sleeve shirts, pants, skirts and so on. It’s also best to hang by length. Fold sweaters, jeans, and delicates.

4.     Only Seasonable Items In Closet - If you have a small closet but have another storage area, it’s best to put the out of season items in a secondary location. If that is not an option, put the current season’s items in the most accessible area.

5.     Shoe Racks - Find a shoe rack that best fits your space, quantity of shoes, and is easiest to access. If you store your shoes in their boxes, tape a picture of the enclosed shoes on the outside of the box so you can easily scan your shoe choices without opening boxes and making a mess. Organize your shoes by occasion or color.

6.     Invite a Friend - Invite a friend or two over and make it an event. They can help advise you on what to keep or toss; and you may even be able to give them an item or two.

7.     Utilize All Available Space - Utilize places like the back of your door or open wall space with hooks or shoe storage. Under the bed is also a great place to store things. ShoesUnder is a great product that neatly stores 12 pairs of shoes under a bed. Available at www.shoesunder.com.

8.     Keep Clutter Clear- Repeat the purging process at the end of every season, as it is easier if you keep up with it. Also, think seriously every time you go to buy something new- do you love it? Will wear it regularly?

10 Halloween Costume Ideas for Couples

1. Caught in Lover’s Lane: Man can wear a button-down shirt buttoned all wrong, lipstick kisses on his face and shirt, pants slightly unzipped, shoes untied or on wrong feet and hair messed up. Woman can wear skirt tucked into back of pantyhose, missing one shoe, make up smeared, hair messed up, and bra on the outside of shirt.
2. Widowed Wife and Deceased Husband: Woman dresses
in all black with a black veil and carries tissues. Man dresses in a nice suit but paints face to look dead.
 3. Celebrity and Paparazzi: One of the two dresses up real nice, wears sunglasses and acts real stuck-up and popular. The other wears regular clothes but has 2 or 3 cameras around neck and is following the celebrity. Paparazzi often hide around corners or behind things and sneaks photos or shouts things like “turn to the right! And “just one photo please!”
4. Titanic Survivors: Wear fancy clothes from the early 1900’s. Place gel in the hair for that wet look, drape some seaweed in hair and wear life preservers around waist that says “Titanic.”
5. Bonnie and Clyde: Dress in clothes of the 1920’s (Clyde should have a pin-striped suit) carry fake machine guns and for some originality go as Bonnie and Clyde after they were shot; add lots of bullet holes and fake blood to your clothes. 6. Vampire and Slayer: One dresses up as a vampire and the other dresses up in normal clothes but carries crosses, holy water and a wooden stake.
7. Fairy Tale Characters: Pick your favorite fairy tale characters like Red Riding Hood and the Wolf or Beauty and the Beast.
8. Sailor and Mermaid: Man dresses as a sailor and woman dresses like a mermaid.
9. Grant Woods Painting: Dress as the dour farmer couple in the famous painting (he holds a pitchfork and wears a black coat; she wears a black dress with white lace collar)
10. Farmer and Animal: One dresses as a farmer and the other dresses as a barnyard animal.

Liquid Eyeliner.

Applying liquid eyeliner can be a hassle. Especially since making one little mistake can make you look less than fabulous. Not to worry, with these how to tips, we are sure you will not make mistakes again.

To create a precise line, try an eyeliner that comes with a fine-point brush that makes application easier. Gently pull skin taut from the outer corner of your eye with one hand. Then with the other hand, paint along the lash line starting from the inner corner. When you reach the outer corner, extend the line diagonally up and out for a sexy 'winged' effect.
If you have shaky hands, try drawing three dashes instead of one continuous line, then go back and connect the dashes. Once you've established a clean base line, gradually fill in and build up from there.

To correct any mistakes, a cotton bud dipped in eye makeup remover will easily erase any stray lines.

Finish with two to three coats of plumping mascara to get an eye-enhancing look.

Just remember that, it usually takes a little experimentation to get the hang of using a liquid eyeliner. But with these mistake-proof tools and techniques outlined above, it will make applying liquid liner a breeze.
